Vision

Our vision is for Sofia to be recognized as a leading European innovation hub – a smart and sustainable city that attracts global talent and investment. We see the capital as a space where technological progress is at the service of people, creating an environment with a high quality of life through knowledge, digitalization and smart governance.

Mission

The mission of the cluster is to function as a catalyst for the innovation ecosystem. We connect business, academia, education and public authorities (the “Quadruple Helix” model) to accelerate Sofia’s transformation into a knowledge-based economy. Our role is to turn ideas into real projects with high added value.

Strategic Priorities and Domains

In the era of technological convergence, the Cluster develops its activities in four key pillars that define the future of the modern city:

• Digital Leadership and Artificial Intelligence (AI): Unleashing the full potential of the ICT sector, cybersecurity and automation as a horizontal foundation for every industry.
• Sustainability and CleanTech: Innovations in energy efficiency, circular economy and smart urban mobility to achieve climate neutrality.
• Life Sciences and Biotechnology (HealthTech): Supporting innovations in medicine, digital healthcare and high technologies for the benefit of human well-being.
• Creative Industries and EdTech: Transforming education through technology and developing the creative sector as a driver of economic growth and cultural identity.

Our Strategic Goal

To build and manage our own model for a "City of Knowledge" that mobilizes Sofia's resources to create new markets and opportunities. The cluster acts as an active intermediary in:

• Investment planning: Creating prerequisites for financing innovative business initiatives.
• Knowledge management: Effective use of the city’s scientific capacity and material base.
• International cooperation: Exchange of experience with leading world cities of knowledge and participation in global innovation chains.

Why now?

The world is not the same as in 2017 when we formed the cluster. Today, the Sofia City of Knowledge Cluster is more open and adaptable than ever. We believe that our strength lies in cooperation – between companies, between disciplines and between generations.
