Smart City Expo World Congress 2025
Every year in November, Barcelona hosts the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC). In 2025, it will be the leading international event for cities and smart city solutions. This year, SCEWC will be held on 4-6 November 2025, and the main theme will be “Time for Cities”. Compared to last year, the exhibition area will be increased so that over 1,100 exhibitors can present the full potential of tomorrow’s city technologies to 25,000 visitors and representatives from over 850 cities.
The focus of this edition of SCEWC will be on AI and how it and smart technologies will support urban transformation!
Every year, the Cluster Sofia Knowledge City and its members participate in the event and receive first-hand information about the achievements in urban technologies and their potential to change the processes of management and urban development of cities. Through their participation, the cluster and its members expand their contacts and actively maintain the Smart City Tech Partnership, which was established a few years ago.
MORE ABOUT THE EVENT
The SCEWC will examine strategies for transforming cities into more sustainable, efficient and livable spaces and will give a central role to artificial intelligence (AI) as a key asset capable of giving impetus to more efficient and sustainable cities. SCEWC will host the new “AI cities”, where participants will be able to learn how this technology will improve and accelerate urban transformation projects around the world. In this new zone, leading companies such as Axis Communications, Bentley, Dahua Technology, Dassault Systèmes, Dell, Deloitte, iotsquared, Microsoft, Nvidia, Spie, Urbaser and Veolia will present their latest solutions and technologies. A large number of national pavilions will also be opened, including from Argentina, China, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, the Nordic countries, the United Kingdom and the United States.
At its congress, SCEWC will bring together over 600 speakers and international experts to share the latest experiences and discoveries in urban transformation in a conference program structured around the following themes:
- Emerging Technologies,
- Energy and Environment,
- Mobility,
- Governance and Economics,
- Living and Inclusion,
- Infrastructure and Construction, and
- Blue Economy.
Global Innovation Center
This year, SCEWC will also focus on the potential of startups as a driving force capable of developing new smart solutions for the city. The Innovation Platform will be reopened, a space that will connect the main players in the global urban innovation ecosystem (investors, R&D centers) with 80 startups. This will bring the number of innovative startups during the exhibition to 350.
The summit includes the Tomorrow.Mobility, organized by Fira de Barcelona and EIT Urban Mobility and aimed at developing a new and sustainable paradigm for urban mobility; as well as the third edition of Tomorrow Building, focused on innovative construction, and Tomorrow.Blue Economy, aimed at harnessing the full potential of ocean resources for sustainable economic growth. SCEWC will also host the fourth edition of the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit, an event organized by Barcelona Activa, focused on scientific and technological entrepreneurship and university spin-offs.
