On stage DAVID Holding

On stage DAVID Holding

We continue with the presentation of cluster members.

Today on stage is DAVID Holding - one of the founders of Cluster Sofia City of Knowledge!

The company plays a key role in the technological development of the Bulgarian industry. It offers complex solutions for resource management, process automation and implementation of the concepts of Industry 4.0. It has many years of experience in the development of ERP systems, document management (Archimed eDMS) and GIS.

DAVID Holding's main achievements include:

  • Successful implementation of management platforms in energy and heavy industry.
  • Ensuring high interoperability and security through support of industrial protocols such as MQTT, HTTPS, etc.
  • Moving from traditional supervisory control to intelligent IoT ecosystems.

The latest solutions developed and offered by the company, which upgrade traditional Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems through the capabilities of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), are:

1. Intelligent Predictive Maintenance Platform (dataFruit)

This is a complete solution for remote connectivity and management of electro-mechanical industrial equipment, which is distinguished by:

  • Functionality: The system transfers real-time data from sensors and PLC controllers to cloud platforms.
  • Predictive Maintenance: Unlike reactive methods, dataFruit analyzes parameters (temperature, pressure, deformations) to predict failures before they occur.
  • Energy Optimization: The system allows automatic control of equipment according to defined profiles to reduce energy consumption during peak loads.
  • Arbitration and SLA: The solution serves as a tool for establishing responsibilities (SLA) between the manufacturer and the user, monitoring whether the machines are operated within the set parameters.

2. SCADA and IoT: An Integrated Approach

While traditional SCADA systems focus on real-time monitoring and local control, DAVID Holding integrates IoT components to achieve a “holistic understanding” of production processes.

  • Scalability: IoT builds on SCADA by easier integration of devices from different manufacturers.
  • Data Analysis: While SCADA collects data on the current state, implemented IoT solutions (such as dataFruit) allow for deep analysis of historical data to optimize the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

DAVID Holding and Smart City

For the Cluster Sofia Knowledge City and its initiatives and projects aimed at the city of Sofia, the company’s solutions are of essential importance, as they have a direct and significant role in building smart cities (Smart Cities), as well as in implementing the principles of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative.

Here is how the company’s technologies fit into these concepts:

1. Contribution to the Smart City concept

A smart city relies on real-time data to optimize the urban environment. DAVID Holding’s solutions can serve as a “technological backbone” in several areas:

  • Smart Utilities Management: The monitoring systems developed by the company can be applied to manage water supply networks, treatment plants and energy systems. Through sensors and IoT connectivity, leaks, failures or overloads are detected in real time.
  • Energy efficiency of public buildings: dataFruit enables automated control of HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) systems and lighting based on real consumption and load profiles, which drastically reduces the city’s carbon footprint.
  • Integrated Infrastructure Management: The company’s SCADA systems enable centralized management of critical urban facilities (tunnels, pumping stations, street lighting), ensuring safety and predictability.

The directions for the application of these solutions are indicated in the diagram below:

2. Connection with the New European Bauhaus (NEB)

The New European Bauhaus is an ecological, economic and cultural project that combines design, sustainability and inclusion. DAVID Holding’s technologies support these goals in the following ways:

  • Sustainability: A key pillar of NEB is the transition to a circular economy and resource conservation. dataFruit’s Predictive Maintenance function extends the life cycle of machines and industrial equipment. Instead of replacing an entire facility in the event of a breakdown, the system allows for precise repairs, which saves raw materials and energy.
  • Aesthetics through functionality: NEB promotes solutions that make the environment better. The digitalization of industrial areas (often located near cities) reduces noise, harmful emissions and the risk of environmental incidents by constantly monitoring environmental parameters.
  • Inclusion and Transparency: The ability to “arbitrate” and prove the quality of services (SLA) that dataFruit offers creates a higher level of trust between citizens (users), the municipality and businesses.

Below is shown the synergy between the company’s technological solutions and their relationship with the two application areas. It is evident that the company’s technologies act as a connecting link:

In conclusion, DAVID Holding provides the tools to turn abstract goals for "green" and "smart" transformation into measurable results. Their solutions allow cities to become more adaptive, more environmentally friendly, and more efficient in managing their resources.
