We continue with the presentation of cluster members. Today on stage is the University of Telecommunications and Post – a representative of the academic members of the Sofia City of Knowledge Cluster! HSTP is an institution with a unique historical profile and a modern vision. Founded by decree of Prince Alexander I in 1881, it is the second oldest higher education institution in Bulgaria.

With over 140 years of history, today VUTP is establishing itself as a leading center for training specialists in the field of modern communications and information technologies.

Specialization and educational focus

VUTP's portfolio is directly oriented to the requirements of Industry 4.0 and the digital economy through specialties such as:

  • Telecommunications and mobile networks: Fundamental expertise for the development of IoT infrastructure.
  • Cybersecurity: Protection of critical industrial systems (SCADA) and urban networks.
  • Digital leadership and IT management: Training of personnel capable of managing digital transformation.
  • Smart technologies: Training for intelligent systems, embedded in the Smart City concept.

As part of the cluster community, VUTP has the capacity for large-scale interaction in the following areas:

  • Knowledge transfer and research base: Using the university's capacity to test technological prototypes and jointly certify personnel in cloud technologies and network administration.
  • European Partnership (Erasmus+): Focus on the creation of modern digital educational content, EdTech platforms and innovative teaching methods, supported by strong Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) with cluster companies.
  • Digital Europe Program: Opportunities to build networks of academies for training in artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technologies and cybersecurity, as well as organizing large-scale competitions for young talents.
  • Skills for the future: Implementing methodologies for managing smart cities and preparing specialists for new professions in the field of sustainable development and technological entrepreneurship.
