New Chairman of the Board of the Cluster Sofia Knowledge City

At the first meeting of the new Management Board of the Cluster Sofia Knowledge City, held on November 5, 2024. Mr. Ivan Velkov Velkov was unanimously elected Chairman of the Management Board.

He will take over the management of the cluster from his predecessor Dimitar Hristov, who is one of the founders and had a permanent involvement in the governing bodies and operational management of the association from the beginning of its foundation in 2017. Mr. Ivan Velkov graduated in economics in Beijing, China, where he then worked as a consultant in international companies.

He was general manager of Colliers SEE, regional director at Raiffeisenbank Bulgaria and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Real Estate Association .

He was a municipal councilor, deputy chairman of the Metropolitan Municipal Council (term 2015-2019) and is a part-time lecturer at the "Real Estate Management" department at UNSS.

He is currently a member of the National Council of NSNI, a member of the Board of Bulgarian Industrial Association and Chairman of the Board of the International Federation of Real Estate Specialists and of the Interactive Bulgaria Foundation. In 2023 was re-elected as Chairman of the Board of the Bulgarian Facility Management Association, which is a member of the Cluster Sofia Knowledge City. Ivan Velkov was a member of the Management Board of the cluster in the previous mandate .

For a smoother transition of the operational management of the organization to the new Management Board, the previous Chairman of the Management Board, Mr. Dimitar Hristov, was proposed and unanimously elected as Executive Director of the association.
