Invitation to a round table on the topic: Micro-credentials - New Opportunities for VET

The INVESTech project team - comprising Bulgarian partners, the Joint Innovation Center of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (JIC-BAS), the Cluster Sofia Knowledge City (CSKC), and the Technological School of Electronic Systems at the Technical University of Sofia (TUES) - is organizing a round table dedicated to the role of micro-credentials as a tool for skills development, the modernization of education, and the strengthening of ties between science, vocational education, and the business sector.

The theme of the round table is:

Micro-credentials - New Opportunities for Vocational Education, Science, and Lifelong Learning. In the context of rapid technological change and the digital and green transition, the need for flexible and practical forms of learning is becoming increasingly important. Micro-credentials offer a means to acquire and certify specific knowledge and competencies through short-term training programs tailored to the needs of learners, researchers, and the labor market.

The objective of the roundtable is to bring together representatives from the vocational education and training sector, scientific organizations, universities, the business community, and relevant institutions to discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with the introduction and recognition of micro-credentials in Bulgaria.

The following topics will be addressed during the discussion:

• Connecting the education sector, research organizations, and the business community in the development of short-term training programs.
• Micro-credentials for the development of digital, technological, and green skills.
• Presentation of the INVESTech platform and the training and competency-development opportunities created within the project, along with an overview of the courses currently on offer.

The event will provide an opportunity to exchange experiences, share best practices, and discuss specific approaches for the broader adoption of micro-credentials in education and research.
