The Degrebe project was successfully completed

The DEGREBE project was successfully completed, in which the Sofia City of Knowledge Cluster took part together with 5 other partners from Greece, Cyprus, the Czech Republic and Hungary.

The project was funded by the Erasmus+ Program and aimed to develop support tools for developing green and transversal skills in young professionals and students from the agricultural sector.

Why did we decide to participate in the project? Climate change and environmental protection are among the most important challenges that directly affect business.

More and more companies are weaving the context of these challenges into their business strategies and implementing green policies and tools. "Green" has also become very popular and fashionable among startups.

This forces more and more employers to rethink their personnel policy and look for personnel among those candidates who can demonstrate the presence of appropriate "green skills". With the implementation of this project, we focused our attention on the need for digital transformation and the use of digital technologies to implement pedagogical, administrative, technical and organizational changes, caused by the need to respond adequately to climate change and the need to protect the environment.

What exactly did we achieve with this project?

We have done the necessary analysis and gained in-depth knowledge of environmental and climate change challenges while creating tools to develop "green skills".

What are these results (tools) in brief?

  1. A digital educational package in the form of an online interactive game for students and young professionals.
  2. A handbook for trainers exploring gamification as a methodology for their application in the learning process.

More about the game itself!

It was focused on the most important green skills. A framework structured around a narrative containing five different "knowledge bases" was used. For each knowledge base, a evaluation system is applied, necessary to rate the player's accumulated knowledge of the most important green skills. The "decision tree" method is used, applying several trees. The tree allows the student (player) to reflect on what they have learned, being able to make an informed choice from several options. Each tree is woven into a unique, gamified plot related to the main game narrative, which is similar to the gaming experience that visual novels typically provide. The plot of the completed digital tool is based on a scenario taken from real life and includes situations, examples and challenges of environmental protection in the agricultural sector. Thus, in the process of exploring the world of DEGREBE, students will become increasingly familiar with the concepts of green and transversal skills and will be able to make informed choices for their own progress.
